You're shopping for furniture and find the perfect piece for your home. However, before you hit the "Buy" button, you notice that it will probably take a couple of months to get to you.

Many of us might feel discouraged about waiting for something we're purchasing. After all, we live in the "Amazon Prime" era and are used to receiving items within a day of buying them.

The important thing to remember is that shopping for Amish furniture is different from purchasing from mass-production, big box stores, though.

At The Wood Reserve, we take pride in partnering with some of the most reputable Amish furniture makers in the United States. They put immense time, care, and energy into their products to ensure customers receive high-quality pieces that will last years.

But why do they take longer? What about the furniture building process makes build times much higher than other stores?

If you're trying to understand how our processing times work, you've come to the right place! Take a look at the information below to understand why our products take more time than places chain furniture stores we're used to.

The Top Reasons Amish Furniture Takes Longer to Receive

The Amish furniture build process is fine-tuned, dependable, and reputable. It also requires more time than products coming off a conveyor belt. Look at the list below to learn why it takes so long to deliver Amish furniture.

 1. Quality Materials

Look at any piece of Amish furniture, whether a mid-century modern bed or shaker-style dining room hutch, and you'll notice one thing straightaway - they're ALWAYS built from solid wood.

Our furniture makers don't settle for less than the best when it comes to the materials they use. For instance, you won't find any particle board in an Amish dining table.

It sometimes takes time to source these materials, though.

But rest assured, this is a good "problem" to have. It means our woodshops are working diligently to ensure you receive long-lasting wooden products you can rely on.

2. Manual Build Techniques

Once our woodshops find the ideal piece of wood for your product, they won't just slap it in a machine and let technology do the rest. They use various hand tools to shape, design, and construct your furniture. Yes, this takes longer but also decreases the risk of mistakes.

3. Custom Furniture Options

When you're shopping for furniture at a chain or big box store, what you see is what you get. So, if you find the "right" product for your home but it's a little too tall or wide, there's nothing you can do.

However, many of our Amish furniture woodshops provide ample customization opportunities when you work with The Wood Reserve. From custom finish styles to design options, our team can ensure you receive exactly what you want and need.

These customizations might tack on a few extra weeks to your build time, but in the end, you'll receive a piece that hits every item on your want list.

4. Industry-Leading Attention to Detail

There's no denying that furniture is expensive. When making a big investment in your home, you deserve the knowledge that whoever makes your item cares as much as you do. Our furniture builders work diligently to exceed your expectations.

Can't Wait? Check Out Our Quick-Ship Collection!

While there are plenty of excellent reasons Amish furniture takes time, not everyone has the option to wait. If you'd like a piece, you can get a bit faster; no worries! We're thrilled to offer a top-rated collection of quick-ship products you can receive in as little as a few weeks.

Amish furniture has a reputation for style, durability, and quality. When you buy a handcrafted dining table or solid wood bed from The Wood Reserve, you can feel confident that you'll get a piece that will last for generations to come.

Quality takes time, though. Our woodworkers aren't using robots and machinery to create these pieces. They're using their hands and working diligently to ensure every customer gets a product they love - even if it takes longer than it would shopping at a big box furniture store.

You may need three shelves instead of two inside your dining hutch.

Do you want a glass door instead of wood?

Or, you'd like that nightstand in your cart more if it was taller and narrower.

It's hard to find the perfect piece of furniture online, but that's where The Wood Reserve comes in. Our expert team of furniture specialists can help you create a piece of custom furniture that meets your unique needs.

Not sure what options are available to you? Stick with us, and we'll explain more about our amazing Amish furniture customization solutions.

Can You Customize Every Piece of Furniture on The Wood Reserve?

It's worth noting from the start that not all of our products can be customized. Luckily, though, a wide selection of them can!

We've put together a versatile collection of customizable furniture. Whether you're looking for an armoire, gun cabinet, or corner cabinet, there's sure to be a gorgeous piece that you love and we can work with you to make it work for your home.

Why Would You Need to Customize Your Furniture?

Amish furniture comes with precedence for quality, durability, and style. However, if it's already so great, why would you need to customize it?

Our customers may need to "tweak" the current design for many reasons. Below is a list of some of the most common custom furniture requests we receive at The Wood Reserve.

1. Measurements

Let's say; for example, you're currently obsessing over our Handcrafted Gun Cabinets, but you want something to better fit your space. We can help you create your dream cabinet or even design larger projects.

The gun room below was specifically designed for one of our customers and built to perfectly fit their space. We worked with them from start to finish to help acheive their vision.

Making adjustments to measurements is one of the most common customization requests we receive, and thankfully, it is one that we can usually accommodate.

2. Storage

Do you love the Craftsman Amish pantry cabinet but wish it had two drawers on the bottom instead of another set of doors? Ask us if we can make the change!

At The Wood Reserve, we recognize that our customer's needs are versatile. You're all using our furniture in various ways and what works for one customer, might not meet the needs of another.

If you'd like to revise the current storage layout of a product, let us work with you to design some changes.

3. Usability

As we mentioned previously, we're all using our furniture differently. But what if it's more than just reworking an item's storage that you're thinking about? What if you're interested in adding a new element to the design?

For instance, the Praxton - Amish Solid Wood 3-Door Buffet Cabinet is a gorgeous piece of dining room storage furniture - but what if you could use it as a wine storage cabinet, too? That'd be amazing, right?

Ask our design team about adding wine storage rack to replace one of the doors! A simple change could ensure you receive the furniture you're dreaming about.

Complete Your Handcrafted Furniture with Our Custom Finish Options

Once the design is underway, it's time to add the final touch - a stunning finish color! Whether you like two-tone styles, paint, or stains, we have a wide range of finish options to help you create a beautiful, heirloom-quality product.

We even offer free finish samples to help you ensure you're getting the exact shade you want!

Do You Have to Order Finish Samples Before Buying Furniture at The Wood Reserve?

Ordering paint or stain samples online isn't required at The Wood Reserve, but we recommend it.

Have you ever bought something online that looked a certain way on the screen, only to have it appear completely different in person? Unfortunately, digital images can only take us so far.

By requesting finish samples, you'll have a better idea of what your chosen paint or stain will look like in person.

This way, you can match it to walls, flooring, or other furnishings to ensure you choose a great color for your home.

How Does the Finish Sample Process Work?

Are you concerned that ordering your finish samples will be complicated and time-consuming? Put those worries away!

We've done the work to make the experience as easy as 1,2,3!

First things first, you'll want to go to our "finish sample" page. Scroll down, and you'll notice we have three different collections based on the woodshops that make our products.

For example, if you're interested in our Colonial Large Amish Hutch, when you're on the product page, you'll see it's a part of our Honorwood Furniture Collection. That will tell you which finish sample set you need to look at.

The finish options include:

• Keystone Furniture Collection Finish Samples
• Honorwood Furniture Collection Finish Samples
• Hardwood Furniture Collection Finish Samples

Do you need clarification about which finish sample collection you should look at? Call us at (941) 201-4230 - we'd love to help you figure it out!

Once you're on the right collection sample page, you can request up to four stain samples in the particular wood type you're interested in.

You will notice there's a $20 fee to order the samples. However, they'll arrive with a prepaid envelope. You'll receive a refund for the finish price as soon as you return the items to The Wood Reserve.

Custom Finish Options for Your Amish Furniture Pieces

Let's say, for a moment, that you've fallen in love with our Arts & Crafts Bar Cabinet. The only issue is you can't find a finish sample that perfectly matches your other furnishings.

Don't stress; we're here to help!

We've worked with many customers to find custom finish options that fit their decor needs. We want you to be 100% satisfied with the final product - that means receiving the paint or stain your room needs for the perfect finishing touch.

What Can You Do With Amish Storage Cabinets?

While "put stuff in them" seems the obvious answer to the question above, it's time to get a bit more specific.

When we think about kitchen and dining room storage, we think of wood furniture products like china cabinets. In today's day and age, though, how many of us have a large enough china collection to warrant the purchase of an entire cabinet to store it in?

The answer is probably not a lot.

Thankfully, you can do more with a china cabinet or other dining hutch than store fancy flatware and dishes.

Here are some of the most popular ways to use the Amish storage cabinets from The Wood Reserve:

• Additional Food Storage Space
• Linens
• Cooking Devices & Equipment, i.e., Pressure Cookers, Slow Cookers, and Stand Mixers
• Create a Home Bar Area or Coffee Station
• Cleaning Products
• Serving Dishes
• Seasonal Decorations

The Most Popular Wood Kitchen and Dining Room Storage Cabinet Types

So, we've established many great ways to use your new Amish handcrafted storage hutch or cabinet, but what type should you get?

Below, we're breaking down the most popular product options:

1. Amish Buffet Cabinet or Sideboard

Would you like an American-made storage cabinet that's longer and includes a longer top? If so, you might want to consider a buffet cabinet or sideboard, like the Westland Barndoor Sideboard.

These are great options for anyone who wants extra storage space and has a use for the top countertop area, too. For example, many customers use them to set up a home bar or coffee station.

2. Dining Hutch and China Cabinets

If you're looking for a more stylish storage cabinet that will fit seamlessly into your dining room space, you might like an Amish-made dining hutch or china cabinet.

This storage cabinet type offers plenty of space for your dining room essentials and has gorgeous design elements that will make an eye-catching addition to your furnishings.

These products often include glass-front cabinetry doors perfect for your more decorative items.

3. Corner Cabinets

Corner cabinets, like the quick-ship farmhouse storage cabinet below, are a top-notch solution if you have minimal square footage and want stylish space-saving furniture options.

These dining room storage cabinets provide ample space for your belongings while fitting snugly into the corner of your room to increase usable square footage.

4. Pantry Cabinets

The word pantry comes from the French term "paneterie," a fancy box or storage cabinet for bread.

These cabinets are primarily utilized for additional food storage in kitchens and dining areas. They often have solid wood door fronts to cover up the "non-aesthetic" canned foods and bulk items inside.

Most Amish food pantry cabinets come with either two doors or four.

Did you know that each year we lose approximately 15 billion trees across the globe? Of that number, around 36 million occur in urban and rural areas in the United States.

Aside from the beauty lost by natural disasters and deforestation practices, reducing trees wreaks havoc on our environmental conditions.

For this reason, The Wood Reserve is pleased to partner with the National Forest Foundation on each of our orders. Typically, our company has one tree planted for every product sold. Since April is Earth Month, however, we're doubling our commitment!

We will have TWO TREES PLANTED for every item sold through the end of April.

But what does this mean? How does this environmental initiative make a difference in the natural state of our country? Keep reading to learn more about the benefits of reforestation and what the National Forest Foundation provides our lands.

Why Are Trees So Important?

There's no denying that trees are lovely to look at, but do they offer us any extra benefits beyond their aesthetically-pleasing qualities?

Absolutely!

Below you'll find a list of the most incredible benefits trees offer the natural environments around them:

• Increased Oxygen: Thanks to photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide and transform it into the oxygen we all need to breathe.
• Reduction of Urban Heat: The shade from a tree can reduce the air temperature in surrounding areas by 6 degrees.
• Prevent Storm-Water Runoff: Stormwater run-off can cause several harmful situations, such as erosion and pollution. Trees help decrease the amount of stormwater in our land.
• Wildlife Habitats: Trees serve as the food source, protection, and homes many animals need.
• Improved Air Quality: Trees naturally filter out dust and pollutants from our air.

How Does National Forest Foundation Work?

In 2022, the National Forest Foundation was responsible for planting 8 million trees in national forests across the United States. This includes 25 different species, such as pine trees in Florida and cedar groves in Alaska!

This foundation works alongside individuals and companies, like The Wood Reserve, to raise funds to cover the cost of this initiative.

This endeavor will help improve the overall environmental qualities in our national forests and urban or rural areas. It also has a direct impact on the current struggle with climate change.

Help Plant TWO Trees Today With The Wood Reserve!

So, are you ready to do your part to assist with the reforestation of our beautiful country? If so, all you have to do is place an order on The Wood Reserve!

Whether you're in the market for a stylish wood watch or a high-quality Amish dining table, every purchase made through April 30th will help plant two trees in the national forests of the United States!
